Amersham & District Philatelic Society

Following the Government’s recent announcement that they envisage no further Covid restrictions in the foreseeable future, our meetings will proceed as planned. The first meeting will be on Thursday 20th January.  See our programme page for details, and also for our future meetings.

Following the recent sad demise of the Middlesex Philatelic Federation the Society’s recent application to join the Thames Valley & District Philatelic Federation has been approved. We welcome the opportunity to join them and take part in their programme of future events and competitions. The following philatelic societies are members of the federation, namely Banbury, Henley,  Maidenhead, Oxford, Reading, Thatcham and Wokinham.

Our normal Speaker programme is to recommence in the New Year.

All meetings will resume in the Old Barn Hall and with a return to normal times the Society will continue to meet at the Old Barn Hall at the Amersham Community Centre fortnightly, apart from the Christmas recess, through to June. The meetings start at 7.30pm and are usually finished by 9.30pm. Most of the meetings start with any club business followed by a Guest Speaker and takes the form of an illustrated display. We have a half time break to take a closer look at the display and have a chance for a coffee and a chat too. See our separate programme page.

Annual subscriptions are only £5.00.                        For the time, however, it has been decided to waive the annual subscription.

We hold three auctions each year and provide a fully descriptive catalogue and the opportunity to view lots beforehand. See our separate auction page.

The Society runs a comprehensive packet circuit, with a wide variety of good quality material which is competitively priced. See our separate packet circuit page.

The Society has a small library which consists mainly of Stanley Gibbons catalogues including some SG specialised catalogues covering GB. We also have four signascope watermark detectors, one ultra violet lamp for checking phosphor bands etc, and a Perfotronic perforation gauge with a digital read out. These are available for members to borrow for short periods. For further information please contact the Secretary
